FutureSense was set up in 2004 with the aim to promote development opportunities for both individuals and local communities. We create placements only where they add genuine benefit either for our programme participant or the local community. To this effect, we have partnered with local NGO’s who are carrying out some excellent work to erase illiteracy, poverty, stigmas in society and much more. Volunteers on our programmes work with these NGO’s to assist them with the development work they do on a daily basis.
We always put people first and through our programmes and activities aim to make a difference for:
Individuals – Participants on our programmes whether they travel out on their own or as a group have always commented on a significant positive difference the experience has had on their lives. Volunteering and working in a developing country, stepping out of your comfort zone, sometimes living in more difficult and challenging conditions, helps build confidence of having taken up a challenge and successfully completed it while working in an unfamiliar cultural context. In effect, helping build skills and develop as individuals.
Local communities – The NGO’s/charities we work with support local communities and address important development issues whether they be in education, livelihood, women’s empowerment, health care or any other. Volunteers often bring new skills and different perspectives, new ideas which help the local organization become more effective in the work they do and the communities they serve.
" At FutureSense, to ensure our commitment to responsible and ethical volunteering, we have also initated a Responsible Travel Policy that covers all stakeholders. Click here to read the policy "
